It is located in the Puntarenas province, 132 km away from the capital city of San José.The National Park was established in 1972, and has an area of 4,014 acres (16.24 km²) (making it the smallest national park in the country). This destination receives over 150,000 visitors each year and is well-known. Although Manuel Antonio National Park is the smallest in the country, it has an incredible diversity of wildlife in its 6.83 km². You can get to see species such as three toed sloth and the two toed sloth. The park is also home of the mantled howler monkey, central American squirrel, iguanas, and the white nosed coati. There are four beaches within the limits of the park: Manuel Antonio, Espadilla, Escondido and Playita.
